| The prime purpose of
BWARS is to map the distribution of aculeates in Britain & Ireland. BWARS
works closely with the
Biological Records Centre
to collate records from hundreds of recorders and to publish these as maps.
Until quite recently, maps were only generally available as part of the
Provisional Atlas of the Hymenoptera of Britain and Ireland series of
publications. With the launch of the National Biodiversity Network's gateway
website, records are now available on line as interactive maps.
In late 2006 BWARS delivered 279,666 records to
NBN Gateway.
These records can be interrogated via the "live" maps
