and a foreword by George Else, is published by Surrey Wildlife
Trust and is the eleventh in a series covering the countys fauna. |

The introduction includes chapters on; The history of aculeate recording in
Surrey; The survey; Changes in the bee fauna; Comparisons with other
counties; Habitats and bee associations; Important sites for bees; Bee
conservation and biodiversity; Finding bees; Bees nesting; Gardening for
bees; Identifying bees; Predators and parasites; Sociality in bees.
The main part of the book consists of species accounts
of each of the 222 species recorded in Surrey. These accounts give the
national and Surrey status, as well as the status in 1900. After a brief
description of each species there is an account of its autecology in Surrey
with a distribution map (on a tetrad basis) and how its status has changed
since 1900. It includes reference to Lasioglossum sexstrigatum, the
bee found new to Britain in 2008. |

There are five appendices including references and a
list of useful addresses.
The book is published in hardback, with dustcover, and
consists of 312 pages plus 48 colour plates, showing almost 100 species.
