Bombus hypnorum. Lennoxtown, East Dumbartonshire. June 2013

Hallo Stuart

Great News! Thank you for bringing this report to our attention. We seem to have been waiting a long time for the push over the Scottish border. From Simonside Forest near Rothbury in 2007, Whitley Bay area in 2008, County Durham in 2010 to last year (2012) with more reports in Cumbria and near Bamburgh in Northumberland. The very recent report from Lennoxtown in East Dumbartonshire (Strathclyde) about 10 km north of Glasgow represents a huge leap of about 150 km from the nearest confirmed report last year in west Cumbria.

A second Scottish record today (2 July 2013): from our intrepid man in Northumberland. Shaun Hackett found an individual foraging at Malva at Harestanes Country Park, nr Jedburgh
